POSCO DAEWOO to help climate refugee children in Myanmar

-T-shirts with pictures drawn by children volunteers will be delivered to climate refugee children in Myanmar
 
POSCO DAEWOO hosted the launch of sixth annual ‘Children Volunteer Team’ and as well as “T-shirt of hope” event on March 25 at its headquarters in Songdo. The volunteer group, established in 2012, is organized yearly and comprised of 54 elementary school children of company’s employees.
 
The volunteers will engage in a variety of activities to help underprivileged people for one year.
Following the launch of volunteer team, children took part in a “T-shirt of hope” activity, which was organized in association with Hope Bridge, a Korean private relief association dedicated to helping disaster victims. 
 
T-shirts with pictures drawn by the children volunteers will be delivered to climate refugee (environmental migrants who were forced to flee due to sudden or gradual alterations caused by climate change) children in Myanmar, along with nutritional food packages and medicine. 
 
“As a member (of the group), I have tried to share love with people surrounding me and to help people in trouble,” said Jin Young-Kwang, 12, who has joined the campaign for six straight years. He added, “I’m happy that I’m able to help troubled children in Myanmar with T-shirts bearing my picture.” 

 
Meanwhile, POSCO DAEWOO has been promoting a variety of social contribution programs with its employees and their families, such as offering English and other educational services to low-income families and disadvantaged immigrant children.
